Renting & booking

How much does it cost to rent an RV in Los Angeles with FamRV?

FamRV rentals start from $249 per night for a 24 ft Mercedes-Benz Sprinter Class C motorhome. The nightly rate already includes commercial rental liability insurance, 24/7 roadside assistance, a kitchen kit, bedding and linens, and 200 miles per night. Rates vary by season, holidays and events such as Burning Man; your quote shows the exact total with taxes and any optional add-ons before you pay anything.

Do I need a special license to drive the RV?

No. A standard driver's license is all you need — no commercial or special class. The Sprinter chassis drives like a large van, not a bus, and most first-time RVers feel comfortable within the first hour.

What is the minimum age to rent an RV?

The renter and every driver must be at least 25 years old with a valid, unexpired driver's license. Every driver must be listed on the rental agreement before they drive.

How do I book, and when do I pay?

Send a booking request with your dates on this site or call us. We confirm availability the same day and send your quote. Nothing is charged until we confirm; a deposit then locks in your dates, and the balance is due before pick-up as stated in your confirmation.

Is there a minimum rental length?

The minimum rental is 2 nights. 1-night rentals are available on request. Some holiday and festival weeks (like Burning Man) may have longer minimums — your quote always shows the minimum for your dates.

What is the cancellation policy?

Cancellation is flexible. Cancel 7 or more days before pick-up for a full refund of rental charges. Inside 7 days we'll work with you to move your dates or give you a credit toward a future trip. Full details are in our Terms of Service.

Is there a security deposit?

Yes — a refundable security deposit is required for every rental, and the amount is shown in your confirmation. It is returned after the RV is checked in, normally within 14 days, minus any documented charges such as fuel, extra miles or damage.

Can I rent an RV for a one-way trip?

Yes — one-way rentals are available on request for an additional charge. Rentals start at our Los Angeles location in Northridge; tell us your drop-off city when you book and we'll quote it.

Pick-up, return & location

Where do I pick up the RV?

Pick-up and return are at 8344 Reseda Blvd, Northridge, CA 91324, in the San Fernando Valley of Los Angeles, close to the 405 and 118 freeways. A 20-minute walkthrough covers driving, the slide-out, generator, water, power and tanks before you leave.

Is FamRV convenient for the rest of Los Angeles?

Yes. Northridge is typically 15–30 minutes from Burbank, Encino, Woodland Hills, Calabasas and Santa Clarita, and about 30–50 minutes from Santa Monica, Hollywood, Pasadena and Downtown LA, depending on traffic. It also puts you on the right side of town for trips north on the 5 and 101.

I'm flying in. How far is the pick-up from the airports?

Hollywood Burbank Airport (BUR) is usually about 20–25 minutes away, Van Nuys is closer still, and LAX is about 40–60 minutes depending on traffic. A rideshare from either airport is the easiest option.

Where can I leave my car during the trip?

Secure gated parking at our location is available for a small additional charge. Add it when you book and leave your car with us for the length of your rental.

What condition is the RV in at pick-up, and how do I return it?

Every RV leaves fully prepped: full diesel, full propane, fresh water, empty black and gray tanks, fully checked and clean. Return it on time with full diesel and propane, tanks emptied and trash removed. Short on time? Add our post-trip tank dumping or diesel/propane refill service and we'll handle it.

Add-ons & extras

What add-ons are available?

Popular add-ons include secure gated parking for your car, post-trip tank dumping, diesel and/or propane refill, early pick-up or late drop-off, Starlink internet, bike racks and additional storage. Need something else? Just ask — we'll do our best.

Does the RV have Wi-Fi or internet?

Starlink satellite internet is available to rent as an add-on — handy for remote campsites and working on the road. Otherwise, your phone's hotspot works wherever you have cell coverage.

Can I bring bikes?

Yes. A bike rack is available as an add-on — tell us how many bikes when you book.

Can I pick up early or return late?

Often, yes. Early pick-up and late drop-off are available as add-ons, subject to the schedule around your dates. Ask when you book.

Amenities & layout

What amenities does the RV have?

The Coachmen Prism has a slide-out living area with a U-shaped leather dinette, a rear bed, a cab-over bunk and a dinette that converts to a bed, a full kitchen (gas range with oven, microwave, two-door refrigerator, sink), a bathroom with toilet, sink and hot shower, ducted A/C and a furnace, an onboard generator, a retractable awning, two TVs, and a Mercedes-Benz cockpit with touchscreen and cruise control.

How many people does the RV sleep?

Up to 6 people: 2 in the rear bed, 1–2 in the cab-over bunk (reached by a ladder) and 1–2 on the dinette, which converts to a bed. Every RV in our fleet has this same layout. Bedding and linens are made up before you arrive.

Is the kitchen equipped?

Yes. The kitchen has a gas range with oven, a microwave, a two-door refrigerator and a sink, plus a kitchen kit with the basics you need to cook. Bring your groceries and you're set.

Does the RV have a bathroom and shower?

Yes — a private bathroom with a toilet, sink and hot shower. You'll learn how to use and empty the tanks during the walkthrough.

Does the RV have air conditioning and heat?

Yes. The cab has the Sprinter's dash A/C while driving, and the living area has ducted roof A/C and a furnace. When parked, the roof A/C runs on the onboard generator or on campground electric hookups.

Is the RV hard to drive or park?

It's 24 ft long on a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter chassis — one of the easiest motorhomes to drive. It fits standard campsites and most parking lots across a few spaces. Watch your height under drive-throughs, overhangs and branches.

Generator, power & water

Does the RV have a generator?

Yes. The onboard generator powers the roof A/C, microwave and outlets when you're camping without hookups. When you're plugged into campground power, you don't need it.

Can I camp without hookups (boondocking)?

Yes. With the generator, fresh-water tank, holding tanks and propane for cooking and heat, you can comfortably camp off-grid for a few days. How long depends on your water and tank use; we'll show you how to check levels.

Are there rules about running the generator at campgrounds?

Usually, yes. Most state and national park campgrounds set generator hours (commonly daytime and early evening only), and some sites ban generators entirely. Check your campground's rules before you go.

How do I hook up to campground electricity and water?

Plug the RV's shore-power cord into the campsite pedestal and connect the drinking-water hose to the city-water inlet. The power cord and water hose are kept on board, and the walkthrough shows each step.

Fuel, propane & mileage

Does the RV use gas or diesel?

Diesel. The Mercedes-Benz Sprinter chassis runs on diesel only — never put gasoline in it. It also uses DEF (diesel exhaust fluid) through a separate filler. We check DEF before every trip, fill it to max, and keep a spare jug on board, so you'll rarely need to think about it.

What fuel economy does the RV get?

Sprinter-based Class C motorhomes typically get around 14–18 mpg, depending on speed, wind, terrain and A/C use — much better than a typical gas Class C RV.

Do I need to return the RV with a full tank?

Yes — the RV leaves with full diesel and propane, so return it full. Prefer not to stop on the way back? Add our refill service and we'll top up diesel and/or propane for you.

What is propane used for in the RV?

Propane fuels the gas stove and oven and the furnace. Every trip starts with a full propane tank.

How many miles are included?

200 miles per night are included, totaled across your whole trip — a 5-night rental includes 1000 miles. Planning a longer haul? Ask about additional miles when you book.

Insurance & protection

Is insurance included with the RV rental?

Yes. Commercial rental liability insurance is included in every nightly rate for approved drivers — it is never an upsell at the counter.

Does my personal car insurance or credit card cover an RV rental?

Often not. Many personal auto policies and credit-card benefits exclude motorhomes. Your FamRV rental already includes liability coverage; check with your insurer before relying on your own policy for damage to the RV.

What is damage protection and do I need it?

You're responsible for damage to the RV up to a deductible. When you book, you choose a protection tier that lowers that deductible. Every tier is explained in plain English before you pay.

What isn't covered by protection?

Common exclusions include overhead or clearance damage, awning and slide-out damage from improper use, tires and wheels, interior damage, and anything caused by a prohibited use or unlisted driver. The full list is in your rental agreement and our Terms of Service.

Can someone else drive the RV?

Yes, if they're approved and listed on the rental agreement. Every driver must be 25 or older with a valid driver's license. Unlisted drivers aren't covered.

Roadside assistance & breakdowns

Is roadside assistance included?

Yes. 24/7 roadside assistance is included with every rental for mechanical problems. Help caused by user error — like a lock-out or running out of fuel — may be charged.

What happens if the RV breaks down?

Get somewhere safe, then call roadside assistance and us at (818) 925-1555. We'll work to repair it or, where possible, arrange a replacement. If the RV can't be fixed through no fault of yours, we refund the nights lost.

What should I do after an accident?

Make sure everyone is safe, call 911 if anyone is hurt, file a police report, take photos, and call us at (818) 925-1555 as soon as it's safe — always within 24 hours. Don't admit fault or agree to anything with other drivers.

Rules & where to go

Are pets allowed?

No — FamRV is a strictly pet-free fleet. It keeps every RV clean and allergy-friendly for the next guest.

Can I smoke in the RV?

No. Smoking and vaping of any kind are not allowed inside the RV.

Can I take the RV to Burning Man?

Yes — FamRV welcomes Burning Man. Your RV gets playa prep before you leave, and the post-burn dust clean is on us. Burn-week dates book out early, so request them as soon as you can.

Can I rent the RV for Coachella, EDC or other festivals?

Yes. We welcome festival rentals — Burning Man, Coachella, Stagecoach, EDC, Lightning in a Bottle and more. Check your festival's RV or camping pass rules, and book early: festival weekends are our busiest dates.

Can I drive the RV off-road or on the beach?

No. Stay on paved or maintained gravel roads — no beaches, sand, dry lake beds, trails or water crossings.

Can I take the RV to Mexico or Canada?

Not without our written consent. Rentals are for travel within the continental United States.

Where can I camp with an RV near Los Angeles?

Popular RV-friendly spots within about two hours include Leo Carrillo State Park and Malibu Beach RV Park on the coast, Dockweiler Beach RV Park near LAX, Point Mugu State Park, and El Capitan State Beach near Santa Barbara. Book state parks on ReserveCalifornia and national parks on Recreation.gov — summer weekends fill up months ahead.

Can I park the RV on the street overnight in Los Angeles?

It's best not to. Many parts of LA restrict overnight parking for oversized vehicles, and sleeping in vehicles is restricted in many areas. Plan to stay at campgrounds or RV parks.
